Job Description:
- Follow the cognitive, physical, emotional and social development patterns of infants and toddlers, and special needs children to develop suitable supportive child-care programs
- Design, implement and lead activities such as arts, drama and music to inspire children to express themselves creatively through songs and stories
- Plan, observe and maintain a healthy, proactive and secure environment for the well-being of the infants and toddlers, and special needs children
- Evaluate the individual child’s interests, abilities, problems and needs in learning and developing progress. Present and discuss with parents and colleagues
- Discover early signs of potential learning or behavioral problems in children. Discuss and prepare reports and guidance for parents and guardians
- Guide, provide instructions and assist children while they learn and develop proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Train and instruct early childhood educator assistants in taking care of children and assisting with day-to-day activities
- Coordinate and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, social workers and other community or government service providers working with children
Qualifications:
- Completion of a two-year college program in early childhood education
- Experience in ECE, special needs and infants/toddlers are required
- Must have the ECE certification in British Columbia for early childhood educators.
- Must have The Early Childhood Education Infant/Toddler Post-Basic Certificate, and the Early Childhood Education Post Basic (Special Needs Specialization) Certificate
- Language: English
