The BC Early Childhood Pedagogy Network is seeking additional pedagogists to work in the government-funded BC Early Childhood Pedagogist Program. This is a grant-funded program, as such, pedagogist positions are available to start as soon as possible and will run until July 31, 2026. We are particularly interested in applicants in the Northern and Interior regions but welcome applications from professionals available to work in any British Columbia region. The pedagogist is a professional role responsible for leading early childhood educators’ pedagogical development and their licensed child care facilities’ pedagogical projects. The pedagogist works with educators, programs and staff in relation to their local work context and makes their pedagogical work visible to the ECE sector both locally and provincially. The role aims to foster democratic, experimental and socially just cultures of early childhood education aligned with the vision of the BC Early Learning Framework and the inclusive child care resources endorsed by the province. The pedagogist not only engages in dialogical processes but also invents pedagogies that challenge the status quo.

Other: Undergraduate degree in education or related field, or equivalent experience in education

5 years of experience in the early years field

Demonstrated experience in collaborative educational projects

Demonstrated experience producing and engaging with pedagogical narrations
Preferred:

Experience in a leadership role in an early learning and care environment (e.g., senior educator position, practicum placement mentor, pedagogical leader/facilitator)

Demonstrated experience supporting early childhood educators, programs and/or staff in the production of and engagement with pedagogical narrations (pedagogical documentation)

Writing and presenting related to early childhood education and/or leadership (e.g., academic and professional journals, websites, conferences, workshops)
Salary & Benefits:
This is an independent contractor position that includes a monthly contractor fee for meeting service deliverables. No benefits are included. Some supplies and work expenses that have been pre-approved are covered by the project. Equipment (e.g., laptop, documentation equipment for the classroom) is provided by the project for use during the contract term.
