ECE required for employment in our dynamic, rural daycare beginning by September, position available sooner for suitable candidate.
Tree Frog Daycare in Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island is a small, rural nonprofit center with a homey feel, and an incredible outdoor playground full of trees, natural spaces, and gardening opportunities.

TreeFrog is a child centered, play based program that encourages children and staff alike to feel a sense of home and belonging from their first welcome.
Our team is seeking a part to full time ECE (Infant/Toddler and/ or Special Needs License an asset, and wages will reflect specialized certification.) This position is at a small daycare currently licensed for 4 Infant/Toddlers and 16 Preschool aged children which also provides inclusive care.
Ideal candidates for this position will:
- have knowledge, skill, and experience with running a multi-aged program, and feel confident in working both independently, and with an assistant, within ratio
- possess strong communication and collaborative skills
- be confident in program planning to meet the varied developmental needs of a group of children in an engaging and inclusive manner
- be seeking a role as a long-term member of a teaching team
We are open year-round, Monday to Thursday, 8am-4pm except for statutory holidays, and two annual holiday closures: one week in the summer and up to two weeks over Christmas.

Current BC Early Childhood Education License to Practice is a must.
Current First Aid Certification required.
Current Criminal Record Check required
Infant Toddler and Special Needs Educator Licenses an asset, and wages will reflect specialized training
Salary & Benefits:
ECE starting wage is $24-27/hour, depending upon experience. The $6/hour ECE Wage Enhancement will also be added for all qualifying staff.
In addition to standard holiday pay accrual, following a 90-day probation period, all staff will receive Health Spending Account benefits, paid sick time (4.8% accrual), professional development and first aid training coverage, and a staff discount of 35% for childcare. Support for additional related education may be considered. Access to a transitional rental is available along with assistance in securing local long-term housing.
