The Champlain Heights Community Association (CHCA) is seeking a passionate and experienced Child Care Program Director to lead our licensed preschool and out-of-school care (OSC) programs. The OSC program serves families from Champlain Heights Main School, Champlain Heights Annex and Cook Elementary.

Leadership & Relationship Building
Reporting directly to the CHCA Board of Directors, the Child Care Program Director plays a key leadership role in shaping the direction and impact of our child-care services. We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader who can:
- Lead, supervise and support a team of early childhood educators and staff
- Conduct regular performance reviews and support professional development
- Build strong relationships with families, school partners and the broader community
- Identify opportunities for program expansion and implement new, creative initiatives
- Ensure a warm, inclusive and child-centered environment
- Attend CHCA Board and Child Care Committee meetings; provide updates and reports
- Work in collaboration with Park Board staff under a Joint Operating Agreement
- Uphold the values and goals of the Champlain Heights Community Association
Out-of-School Care (OSC) Program
The OSC program serves almost 50 children before and after school and during Pro-D days. The Director is responsible for the planning, coordination and overall success of the OSC program, including:
- Ensuring compliance with all licensing and safety standards
- Designing stimulating activities that support social, physical and cognitive development
- Coordinating field trips, outdoor learning, literacy-based activities and nutritious food offerings
- Managing daily operations including registration, staffing, scheduling and waitlist administration
- Supporting families with child-care subsidy applications
- Overseeing Pro-D day and seasonal programming
- Maintaining children’s records, registration contracts and program handbooks
- Applying for grants to support child-care programs
- Maintaining an annual budget and applying for affordable childcare benefit, Childcare Fee Reduction Initiative and Childcare Operating Funding
Preschool Program
The Director also oversees a vibrant and developmentally appropriate preschool program focused on school readiness, creativity and social-emotional growth. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing curriculum grounded in best practices in early childhood education
- Ensuring a nurturing, inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment
- Supporting preschool educators in program planning and delivery
- Engaging families through open communication and collaboration
- Maintaining licensing compliance and ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the preschool space
Qualifications:
Other: ECE or equivalent
Additional Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate or a combination of relevant experience and an appropriate degree in a related field (e.g., child development, education, social work)

- Minimum three years of experience managing licensed preschool and/or OSC programs
- Experience working within a non-profit structure and reporting to a board of directors
- Strong understanding of B.C. child-care licensing regulations and early learning frameworks
Assets
- Knowledge of ActiveNet registration system
- Class 4 Driver’s Licence and experience driving a 24-passenger bus
- Experience working in a Vancouver Park Board setting under a Joint Operating Agreement
- Familiarity with inclusive and community-based child-care programming
Salary & Benefits:
$30-$36/hour
