Monday- Friday 8 hours per day within the operating hours of 7am-6pm based on operational needs. Occasional evening and weekends

Nature & Scope 

Reporting directly to the Regional Manager of School Age Child Care, the Supervisor of School-Age Programs provides successful leadership and management of the YMCA Before School Care and After School Care School Age Programs as follows, Massey Before Care, Highland Before Care,  Springwood, Gillett, Westwood, Massey and Highland (2) (sites may change due to community need and additional sites will be added up to ten) according to the strategic directions of the Association and those mandated by the Province of British Columbia. The coordinator delivers programs and services that focus on excellence in child care while making a significant contribution towards the advancement of child care in the community.

 

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and sustain good working relationships with the children and the families of the centre(s).
  • Connects daily with staff, providing direct supervision. This means you are accountable for their performance, engagement, health, and wellbeing.
  • Develops good relationships with the management team and external agencies including those but are not limited to: Northern Health Child Care Facilities Licensing, School District personnel, Supported Child Development, Aboriginal Supported Child Development, and the Ministry of Education.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the regulations and operating standards of YMCA BC, municipal and provincial governments and ensure the program is run in accordance with these directives.
  • Commitment to respecting diversity and demonstrating inclusive behavior, responding with sensitivity and self-awareness to the unique needs of children, colleagues, and staff members, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, support, and development to front line staff with support from your manager when needed. This includes creating individual development plans, goal setting and providing opportunities for meaningful feedback with your employees.
  • Build meaningful relationships with staff and coach staff to build meaningful relationships with others to achieve excellence in service.

Qualifications:

School Age Certificate

Additional Qualifications:

  • Education Assistant certification or higher or a combination of Responsible Adult qualifications and experience in school age child care facilitation.
  • Child Care First Aid & CPR C.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check with clear Vulnerable sector check.
  • Leadership experience in a Child Care program.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a team with minimal supervision.

Salary & Benefits:

$52,000.00 - $57,000.00 Annual Salary, (plus Government Wage Enhancement currently $6.00/hour for fully certified Early Childhood Educators)
