Join a strong team of experienced and engaged teachers and staff at Whistler Waldorf School in beautiful Whistler, BC.  We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Educator for a .85 FTE (full-time equivalent of 40 hours) permanent position starting September 2025. The educator would be working in a collaborative teaching environment under the guidance of a Waldorf lead teacher.

The Educator assists the lead teacher in the delivery of the Waldorf Curriculum in accordance with British Columbia Child Care Licensing Regulations and the Early Learning Framework. This includes the creation of a healthy classroom learning environment, and the care for the overall well-being of the students under one’s care, in accordance with WECAN principles (Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America).

Daily tasks include:

  • Assisting lead teacher in setting up the physical environment for the rhythm of the day, including safety and equipment checks and ensuring that all resources are in place. 

  • Providing care and active supervision of children, to ensure the safety and wellbeing of individuals and the class community, including maintaining supervision ratios. 

  • Guiding children under one’s immediate supervision through the daily rhythm of activities, maintaining an awareness of the whole, and what is needed to proceed smoothly through the next transition.  

  • Leading classroom activities such as circle, story and practical/artistic activities on a regular or occasional basis as directed by the Lead Teacher. 

  • Assisting with daily care routines of students, including toileting, dressing and diapering as needed. 

  • Performing routine cleaning and care for the daily maintenance of a clean, orderly classroom environment.  

  • Providing direction and behavioural guidance to children in accordance with the Behaviour Guidance Policy 

  • Preview and review of daily adaptations or strategies with lead teacher in response to student needs.  

Qualifications:

Other: ECE (preferred) or ECEA

Additional Qualifications:

  • A Waldorf Early Years Certification is a bonus and/or willingness to commit to more training for Waldorf Early Years Certification. 

  • a B.C. Emergency First Aid Certificate for working with young children  

  • Excellent professional and collaborative skills with the ability to foster professional relationships between teacher & parents and work well with other Faculty/ Administrative Staff colleagues. 

  • A Canadian citizenship and/or eligibility to work in Canada. WWS will administer a current Criminal Record Check.

Previous experience in a group childcare setting is preferred; however we will consider candidates with experience in recreational programs or nannying experience. 

Salary & Benefits:

Positions start at $22-$26 per hour (based on experience, full-time hours, etc.) plus $6/hr Wage Enhancement for qualified ECEs.
