Early Childhood Educator – Preschool (Temporary to June, 2026)
Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House is a community-based organization dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children and families. Our childcare programs have operated since 1972 and now provides children ages 3–12 with enriching early years and school-age care that promotes play, learning, and belonging for over 400 children in 7 community locations.
We are seeking an energetic, caring, and responsible Early Childhood Educator to join our preschool team. The ideal candidate loves working with young children, is a strong communicator and collaborator, and is passionate about creating positive experiences for children in a licensed preschool setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities across all curriculum areas.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
- Assist with daily routines such as nutrition breaks, transitions and site cleanliness,
- Support children's emotional and social development
- Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment
Qualifications:
Basic ECE
Additional Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Valid Early Childhood Educator certificate; IT/Special Needs certification an asset
- Experience working with young children in an early years setting
- Strong program planning skills; emergent programming and outdoor experience an asset
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Strong communication skills, able to work collaboratively with teaching partner
- Experience with Reggio Emilia approach and documentation an asset
- Knowledge of BC Childcare Licensing Regulations and child development
- Knowledge of the 2019 BC Early Learning Frameworks and inclusive practice
- Hold a valid First Aid, Food Safe, clear Criminal Record, and an immunization record
Required Experience:
- Experience with Reggio Emilia approach and documentation an asset
- Knowledge of BC Childcare Licensing Regulations and child development
- Knowledge of the 2019 BC Early Learning Frameworks and inclusive practice
- Hold a valid First Aid, Food Safe, clear Criminal Record, and an immunization record
Salary & Benefits:
Rate of Pay: $22.00-$25.25 depending upon qualifications (plus $6 BC Government Wage Enhancement). Benefits package included.
Additional Information:
Terms of Employment: 25 hours per week, Monday-Friday (9:15-1:15 program, plus set-up & meeting time), additional casual hours in OSC available
