On June 24, 2025, 黑料论坛 committed to the relaunch of the $10aDay Campaign initiated by the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC. This campaign asks for a renewed call to action: to uphold the BC Governments commitments to the $10aDay plan and continue to work in partnership with the early years sector.
The 黑料论坛 (黑料论坛) expresses deep gratitude to early childhood educators (ECE) for their unwavering dedication and highlights the urgent need for an ongoing commitment from the Government of BC to truly value their essential contributions. Early childhood education forms the bedrock of a healthy, equitable society. ECEs are highly trained professionals who bring expertise, commitment, and compassion to their work every day, that is critical to children鈥檚 lives and providing invaluable support to families and communities.
While the $10aDay Child Care Plan has made strides in improving affordability and awareness, ECEs continue to face significant challenges, including inadequate compensation, complex funding structures, and undervalued professional status. 黑料论坛 emphasizes that meaningful recognition must go beyond appreciation days and include fair wages, improved working conditions, and ongoing policy development. We call on the Government to engage directly with educators and invest in a strong, sustainable early learning system that centers the well-being of children and families but also ECEs. Through collective advocacy of the $10aDay Plan and vision that we advocate for, 黑料论坛 aims to ensure lasting progress for the sector and the broader community.
As stated by our partner the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC, in 2018 BC became a national leader in child care, achieving significant progress in making affordable child care available to more BC families within a few years, and improving wages for educators. Dr.听Jim听Stanford's new听听confirmed that these听public investments have been an economic boon for BC, boosting employment growth, earnings and labour supply. While recognizing that the human impacts are most important,听Stanford听confirmed the economic significance of further investments in child care in BC.听鈥淎ccelerating and strengthening the rollout of $10aDay spaces in the province, and improving the quality of care provided鈥ill be important in ensuring these economic benefits continue to be reaped in the years to come. The key lesson arising from this analysis is clear. Quality, accessible, universal child care services are a vital precondition for economic progress. The faster BC can move toward that goal,听...听the greater will be the future economic gains for all sectors of the provincial economy.鈥
Guided by 黑料论坛s ethical commitments and obligations, we support this renewed call and highlight the importance of high-quality environments for children, that include a fairly compensated fully qualified educator work force. There will be no system without Early Childhood Educators. 黑料论坛 stands with all educators to uplift the sector and the expansion of the $10aDay system.

Sincerely,
Emily Mlieczko, 黑料论坛 Executive Director
